Today I guess I really didn't do much in the morning, I don't really remember. I know that at 1:30 my dad and I went to a gun show at the Osage Center. My dad said he'd seen a sign for one and he kind of wanted to go to it. So we were trying to figure out where the gun show was because he thought it was at the Show Me Center but I looked it up and it was actually at the Osage Center. So yeah we drove there.

I don't know if it's going to be feasible for me to try and keep writing every day. I keep forgetting. But I'll keep trying I guess. Today was my first day of second semester at SEMO and I surprisingly woke up really early just on my own. I think I woke up around 6:30, and then I tried to fall back asleep but I couldn't so I just listened to music. Then I got out of bed and got dressed and ready at 8:30. My mom made me a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on my grandma's homemade bread and that was really good. I parked my car in the garage last night so after I ate, I went ahead and left. Janell and my mom left at the same time I did because they had a hair appointment at Amy's. Also Max left a giant shit pile right in the center of the garage, can't forget that detail.

The roads were still kinda icy from the snow a couple days ago but they weren't too bad. I just went to Normal Street to try and find parking because my first class was in Grauel, and luckily there was parking on the street. I don't know why more people don't park there. But I ended up getting there pretty early so I just sat in my car and listened to my old playlist that has all of those Fountains of Wayne songs on it.

Eventually I went to my first class at 9:30, which was Helping Skills for the Human Services. This morning I put on Crocs without thinking about it and I realized when I was walking to class that I probably should've worn closed-toe shoes because I got snow in my shoes. But anyway I got to class and sat in the back next to an Indian guy. There were only like, four guys in the class, so that was kinda crazy. The professor for that class seemed pretty nice, too. She brought muffins or something but they were at the front of the class so I didn't see them. She was kinda sad not many people ate them. But yeah, once that class started she talked about herself and apparently she worked at a juvenile detention center or something. Then we went over the rubric and she made us introduce ourselves to someone else in the class and then introduce that person to the rest of the class. The Indian guy next to me asked to be partners so we were. We had to ask them their full name, hometown, major, favorite food, and something you don't know about them. So I told him my name, that I lived here, I like ravioli, and I was on my high school's bowling team. Then he told me his name, but I had to keep asking him to repeat it. It was like, Ismael or something. I don't remember. And I think I pronounced his last name wrong. I pronounced it Cymbal, like the instrument. But yeah, I guess he likes burgers and street racing. That was kinda all that happened in that class. We got out like, 45 minutes early, so that's cool.

I went back to my car to sit down and heat up because my next class wasn't till 11:00 and some black guy asked me for directions to the International Village, which I didn't know, but I figured it might be near the Greek Village so I pointed him that way. Hopefully I helped him, guess we'll never know. After sitting in my car for thirty minutes I got out to go to Scully where my Food and Nutrition class was, and on the way there I ran into Mack and Zach Robinson. And I called them Mack and Zach when I saw them which was kinda cringy. But yeah we talked for a bit, I told Mack that I think I'm in her chemistry class because I'm creepy and check the people who are in a class with me on Canvas. And I told them I'm a nursing major now, so fun. And then Zach told me Eli was mad at me because I kept leaving him on delivered, which is true, but right now, Eli's the one who's left me on delivered for two weeks.

Anyways, I got to Scully and went inside. At this point my toes were numb. But yeah I found the nutrition class on the top floor and went in. I was scared most people would be online and I'd be the only in-person person but the class was actually packed. I sat in the back near the door again next to some foreign girl. That class was honestly pretty boring. Jackson Haertling was in it, which I didn't know. Oh yeah, Audrey Daniel was also in my first class. I didn't talk to her or anything, though. But yeah in nutrition we introduced ourselves and told our majors. The majority were nursing majors, but I was the only guy from that major. I found out Jackson is a psychology major. Interesting. But that's basically it.

After that class got out I went to Brandt to use the restroom because that building is where I always use the bathroom. Then I made my way back to Grauel for my Rhetoric and Critical Thinking class, which I was kinda dreading because Sam Stuart was going to be in that class and I figured it would be awkward. I met Sam in the building and said hi and he figured out that we were in the same class, so we ended up sitting next to each other in the classroom, and it was kinda awkward. This isn't really the kind of class where you can talk, so Sam was just on his phone and I was just doing nothing. But it wasn't that bad. The professor was this old lady named Mrs. Seabaugh and she was honestly really boring. A full 75 minute long class would feel like forever with her. Luckily she let us out really early. Sam asked her after class if she was from the north and she said she wasn't. Sam said he was trying to get on her good side. But yeah then we went our separate ways and I went to the library to right some entries.

1/10/24

Today I think I woke up at around 10 or 10:30 or something. Today my mom was going to Cape for some errands and stuff so I went with her.

The first place we went was McDonald's because I didn't eat anything. My mom had a free thing for 6 piece nuggets for her birthday yesterday and she let me use that since she didn't want anything. I also got a coke. So that was good.

After that we went to Dr. Gibbons office because my mom's contacts had come in. I stayed in the car for that though. My mom said someone in there guessed that she was Joan and the lady said she should buy a lottery ticket for guessing right. Don't know why I included that, just a little detail I remember.

After that we went to First State Community Bank to close my account because I never use that account. I had 150 dollars in it that I got out in cash so that's good. I think all of my money in that account is because they give you a couple of dollars for every A you get on your report card.

Then after that we drove to SEMO and my mom showed me where the bus used to drop her off at Scully. We went here because I was going to see where my classes were going to be. My mom just dropped me off, though, because she had to go pick up prescriptions or something. But yeah my Scully class was nutrition and it was actually on the highest level (4th floor). All of my other classes were also on that side besides Grauel, but I didn't go to Grauel because I already know that building pretty well. But yeah I have like four classes in Magill and one in Rhodes. Then I walked to Academic and my mom picked me up on Normal Street. I also had to point an Indian guy in the direction of Dempster because he asked me for help.

After that we went to Last Mile Liquidators because my mom's been wanting to go there for some reason. I actually think she said she wanted to go there to look for shelves for my closet at Nana's. It was kinda nice in there. It's at that new building on Williams Street. They have a bunch of overstock furniture that's still boxed and is marked down by 20-30 percent. Maris apparently works in there and I said bye to her when we were leaving. Also they have a doodle or poodle or something that was just walking around the store. But yeah in the store I actually found a TV stand that I really liked and ended up getting. It's definitely an upgrade from the one I have at Nana's right now. Some scrawny kid picked up the box that the TV stand was in and made it look like nothing. My mom was really impressed but I just figured it wasn't that heavy. Then when we got to Nana's and I tried picking it up, it was actually really heavy. I underestimated that kid.

But yeah we didn't go to Nana's right after, we actually went to Buffalo Wild Wings. I got a cheese curd burger and my mom got a normal cheeseburger. It was reallly good but really filling. They were also playing the Blues game so I got to see them lose to the Panthers. But yeah that's about the end of that. Always fun.

Writing about this day makes it feel like forever, it just keeps going. After BWW we went looking at car lots for either Janell or my mom. We went to Morlan first and my mom was looking at a blue Ford Escape that she thinks Janell might want. I don't know why my mom wants to get Janell another car instead of herself. Janell's car is the car the keeps breaking down, but she picked out her shitty car and knew that Mini Coopers were unreliable. She can't just expect to get a new 30,000 dollar car when hers breaks down. So I think she should get my mom's Equinox and my mom should get a new car. The Equinox is probably more than Janell deserves anyways. But I guess my mom's a better man than me. But yeah my mom even had a dealership guy come out and unlock the car. The car was over 25,000 dollars so it was out of the price range. Also the dealership guy told my mom she should get a car instead of Janell because of the prices right now. I didn't really understand his logic and how it mattered (actually I guess he meant we keep the Equinox and give it to Janell [actually wait I still don't understand]).

Whatever, after that we went to another dealership (Coad Chevrolet) and looked at car that I actually thought looked nice. It was a light green Chevy Trailblazer, which you wouldn't think would be that cool, but it was. AWD, dual exhaust, blacked-out logos, tinted windows, carbon accents. A dealer guy, Landon, came out and unlocked it. This one was over 32,000 dollars so I that's still pretty pricey. But it was nice. Also my mom got locked in the backseat because it had a child safety lock.

After that we drove to some other lots but nothing caught our eyes. Then we went through the car wash because my mom had a coupon and then we went to Nana's to unload the TV stand. Then we went home.

Once I got home I went and found a kennel for Chowder because he's getting fixed tomorrow. I got the kennel, some blankets, and dog car seat cover and put all of that in my car. For the rest of the evening, I spent some time outside, something that I should do a lot more. I listened to the entire album of The Stranger while walking through the creek and sitting on a rock with Opal and Chowder (Max was there too, just not really sitting with me) out by the little waterfall area behind the creek. It was nice. I also fed Orange Man on my way back to the house. Then I put Max and Chowder in the garage so Opal and me could go on a Mule ride. Chowder and Max don't like riding the Mule so it's easier putting them up. My dad got home when I was just pulling out of the garage in the Mule and I think he also went down there and fed the cat after I did. Orange Man eatin' good tonight. But yeah I just drove around the woods and to the top of Fornkohl's Hill.

Then I went inside and ate. We had breakfast for supper, so pork sausage patties and a fried egg. Janell also got home just in time for supper. For the rest of the evening I didn't do much. Talked with the family and discussed bringing Chowder to the vet. My mom said she'll also go with me to make sure everything gets done. I could do it myself, but I feel better that she's going along. Also hopefully she'll pay the vet bill instead of me. If she does, I'll eventually repay her. Really hoping she does.

But yeah then I played some Fortnite and wrote this thing. I also cleaned my entire room. It desperately needed it. It's almost 2 AM and I feel like I've been writing forever, so I put it in a Word document and this passage alone is basically the equivalent of a FOUR PAGE ESSAY. That's longer than all the essays I wrote in EN100. No wonder it feels like I always spend so much time writing.

But yeah I gotta go to bed. Today was like a 7/10 just cause it felt like I did so much.

1/9/24

Holy shit if I don't get my act together I'm gonna kill myself. I was supposed to leave my unmotivated self in 2023. I told myself I was gonna write every day of the new year and I've been procrastinating like little bitch and I've already missed the first nine days of 2024. But don't worry I'm gonna go back and fill them in, they just won't be super detailed because I'm gonna have to remember or look at my maps and search history to see what I did that day, but trust me, I'm gonna do it. I'll actually write every day from here on out.

Anyways, today was my mom's birthday. Last night, I could not fall asleep AT ALL. It was like, 2:30 when I started trying to go to sleep and I couldn't, I was just laying in bed listening to music until past 4 AM. My sleep schedule has been SOOO off. Like, way more off than it's ever been. I've pulled four all-nighters this break. Over the summer I only stayed up all night once. That's crazy. So even though I set my alarm to 9:00 I woke up at noon. And then I fell asleep until 1. Also my dad was being annoying as all hell because for some reason he thinks I'll want to get out of bed when he's like that. No, it just makes me want to kill myself. But luckily, I had my new headphones and they work perfectly for blocking out noise, so that dealt with that. I also voice memoed him acting like that to always remember it (because it's such a nice thing to remember). And yeah, I know I should've been out of bed by then and I wanted to get up, but I am not giving him the satisfaction.

But yeah I was eventually out and about. Not really about though. I stayed inside basically all day, which sucks, but it's not like there's anywhere to go. I went out with Chowder for a bit. After a while my mom got home and I got to say happy birthday, but she was tired and took a nap for a while in her room. Queen deserves it. I played some Stardew Valley because for the past couple of days I've been into it again. I guess Janell got home sometime in between 3 and 4 and she was all mad because we were going to go out to eat tonight for mom's birthday, but the Craigmiles, mammy and papa, and Pam were also going to be there. Apparently she wanted it to be just us four. I didn't really mind either way. I just like going out to eat.

So yeah we all started getting ready to leave a little before 5 and I got a shower, brushed my teeth, all the works, and Janell was still in bed, so we basically had to drag her out to go. Janell was honestly being not very nice today. Like, it was my mom's birthday and Janell still kept trying to get her way. Like girl, it is not your day. But we eventually left and had a very awkward car ride. It didn't start out that way, but Janell kept on nagging and my dad kept backing Janell up. That's also a bad habit my dad has. It seems like he backs up Janell more than his wife. I was literally the only one trying to keep everything optimistic and saying it'd be fun. But yeah Janell kept calling June and Pam bitches and stuff and saying all this other stuff and eventually my mom started crying and it was actually the saddest thing ever. My mom literally never cries and there should be no reason she has to cry on her birthday. I'm crying just thinking about it and I almost cried then. Finally Janell apologized after I told her to, and she ended up apologizing several times. My dad never really did, but I guess he wasn't really making the claims or anything, but he was supporting Janell. But yeah it was awkward the rest of the way there.

We went in and most of the other people were already there. For some reason they'd assigned seats and of course they decided to put me next to Ella, because for some reason she was going to be there. So I was across from Connor and had Janell on my other side. I was kinda surprised Connor was there, but I guess he was on his break from Buffalo Wild Wings.  And luckily things loosened up once we got seated. I didn't end up talking to Ella or anything but literally I do not know her, I shouldn't be expected to. But yeah it ended up going good. I got ravioli carbonara and zuppa toscana for my soup. The soup was a little grayer and weirder looking than normal, but still good. Then for dessert, June got a chocolate lasagna cake and gave me a slice, and my mom got the zeppoli Italian doughnuts and I also ate one of those. The ride home was normal, luckily. The rest of the night was also normal. I talked to the fam, played some Fortnite and Stardew Valley, and started writing this entry. Also, this post has literally taken me thirty minutes to write. I feel like that's longer than normal.

But yeah I was hoping today would be better than it was, but I'd give it a 5/10.

1/8/24

Today was the aftermath of an all-nighter so I was up early. This was also Janell's first day back to school, so I started trying to get ready when she was getting ready.

I didn't really end up doing much, but I felt like cooking something, so after Janell and my dad left (he took her because her car is still acting up) I tried making some poutine. For some reason cooking always drains me so much and once I'm halfway done with the dish I just wish I'd never have started and it was that way with this. And literally all I was actually making was the gravy. But the butter took forever to melt, and the broth took forever to boil, everything was taking forever. Also I realized I probably made 6 times as much gravy as I needed. But yeah I finished it up, air fried some crinkle fries, and got out some weird like, uncured mozzarella balls or something. They tasted kinda weird. So I put it all together and went outside to eat it, because poutine tastes best when eaten hot in a cold setting. It actually tasted really accurate to authentic Canadian poutine. Didn't exactly look the part, but that doesn't matter.

Making that was the highlight of the day and after that I did nothing. I know I fell asleep at around 3 pm and my dad caught me sleeping and literally got so mad. He hates when other people take naps but apparently he's allowed to nap whenever he wants. Then he made me go help him put a tire in the back of his truck even though he definitely could've done it himself. And the tire also rolled out when he rolled it up there and he got mad at me.

I was going to have to pick Janell up to go to an appointment at 3 but my mom was off by then so she did it. I was kinda looking forward to it, though, because I wanted to get out of the house. But they brought me home Chick-fil-A afterwards so I was more than happy. Then I played some Stardew Valley and that was the end of my day.

4/10. I need to get out of the house.

1/7/24

I feel like today was actually decent. I slept at Nana's last night and ended up waking up early (6:45) even though it was past 4 AM when I went to bed. But I stayed up because I wanted to leave before one of Nana's helpers got there. So I got ready, left, and went to McDonalds. I got a Sausage McMuffin and a free hashbrown with some rewards points. So good.

When I got home, the garage door to the house was locked for some odd reason so I had to go back to my car and get the house keys. Everyone was still asleep inside. Also I guess Addi had spent the night because her car was outside. I went upstairs and played Minecraft for and hour or so. I think my Gamepass glitched or something because it should've gone away by now, but whatever.

9/27/23

I don't really remember everything that happened today because it was a week ago, but here's the important stuff I guess.

In EN100 it was our day to play "Grammardy" (I think that's what it was called) which was like Jeopardy but about the weird sentences we've been learning about (compound-complex, stuff like that). So I thought that'd be pretty fun. When it got to my turn on our team, I picked "Redlining" which no one else had yet, so I didn't really know what it was, and someone told me to pick 500 so I did, and that happened to be the daily double, so it was worth 1000 points. But it was the hardest question ever. I had to write a sentence with an adverbial phrase and like ten other specifications and I had to talk to my team for like 5 minutes to understand what I was doing but I eventually got it. The other team was mad we took so long. We also still lost to the other team, so they won a Powerball ticket. The rules were that if they won the lottery, our team would still get 1,000,000 dollars. I would've actually been so mad if they won, cause the jackpot was like, 80 million, but they didn't win.

I don't remember what happened in the other classes, probably just notes, but after my last class I went to Dollar Tree to get stuff for the puppy. I ended up only getting a bag of Canine Carry-Outs to try and train it and a teal collar.

When I got home, Janell and I gave the puppy a bath since we found out that it had fleas. Luckily he kind of liked water. We gave the bath in Janell's bathtub downstairs. But that went okay. He still had some fleas afterward so we'll have to give him another bath.

That's all I remember. I'm sure for the rest of the day I kept playing with Chowder. 6/10.

9/26/23

Today I may have made a bad decision. But I guess I'll start from the top. I got ready and left for SEMO.

I took the fifteen minute walk to my English literature class. It was alright, pretty normal. We were talking about More's Utopia book. And that's literally all we did, talk.

After that I realized that my UI100 class was online today, so I sat at a table and started to do that, but didn't get very far. It's a bunch of quizzes you take to determine what careers you'd be good at.

Then I went to the gym for a little bit because I needed to waste some time because I wanted to go to my grandma's house but Terri was still there. So I had a quick little normal workout.

Then, I went to my grandma's house, talked to her for a bit, and went upstairs. I put a pizza in the air fryer, opened my tablet, and turned on the TV while sitting on my new couch. It was comfy. I was planning on doing some of my homework but ended up watching TV. There was a show called Stargate SG-1 on and a weird other show called Grimm that came on after that. I kinda like watching live TV sometimes. My pizza was also really good. I got to use my new utensils and plate. So that was fun. Then I said bye to my grandma and left because I had to get my car serviced at 2:30.

I was a little late but whatever. It was at Morlan Chrysler. I pulled my car into the garage area and went inside to give the guy my keys. He also told me it would be $143 for him to diagnose what was wrong with my ABS and traction control light. I said alright even though that seemed like a lot. I sat in the waiting room and ate some Sun Chips because they had chips you could eat. I wanted a Cherry Pepsi, too, but didn't get it because some other people came and sat down and I didn't want them to think was a weird. After FOREVER the guy came and got me and he only charged me $63 for some reason but said I had a bad left bearing and it would be over $300 for the part and labor. But I didn't do that today. I'll call later I guess. I left and called Janell because we had been secretly discussing something; getting a new puppy.

There was a Craigslist post I found the day of the auction and I'd been thinking about it. I emailed the guy yesterday and he said they were still available and everything so after the car service I asked if we could come look today. When I got home I went to look for a kennel that would work but my dad caught me and said I'd better not think about getting a dog. But then, the seller messaged back and said today was fine, so I left to go up to Perryville. I put the dog kennel, some blankets, and sussy baka in my car.

So I left at a little after 5:00 and messaged the guy it'd probably be around 6 when I got there and he said that'd be fine. Janell was going to meet me there, but since the place was outside of Perryville, I figured I'd better just pick her up, so I went to the Perry Park Center because that's where her cross country meet was. It took me forever to find her but I did and we drove to where the address was.

I actually really liked the area back there, it reminded me of Virginia. It was on T-road, which I'd never been on, and past a place called Silver Lake. The houses back there were kind of hit or miss, some looked nice and some looked trashy. So Janell and I had no idea what to expect and were kind of scared. Eventually we turned onto a gravel road and my mom called Janell. She just told her we were driving around. So then I started driving again and the house was right up ahead. And it was a trashy house. It looked like a shed. But there were puppies in the front yard in a fence, so at least it wasn't a scam like Janell was thinking.

We got out of the car and a man walked out of the shed house. He looked kind of like a hillbilly with his marines shirt and beard and stuff, but he ended up being really nice. An older woman also walked out, but we didn't talk to her. Janell and I looked at the puppies for I don't even know how long, probably 45 minutes, and we couldn't decide on a puppy. There were also little baby puppies from a different litter. Both of the parent dogs seemed clean and nice. The man would pick up puppies to let us pet them and hold them and we narrowed it down to two puppies; one with brown eyes and dark on its face and back, and a lighter tan one with green eyes. I couldn't decide so Janell said she liked the tan one better. I think she just said that because that's the one she was holding, but whatever, it was as good as any. So I shook the guys hand (and found out that his name was Gene) and we loaded the puppy into my car.

So then I drove back to Perryville to drop Janell off at her car, and while we drove we thought of names for the dog. I don't remember all of the names, but when we got back to the Perry Park Center, Janell said Chili, and I said it's more the color of chowder so now she's stuck on the name Chowder, which I guess is kind of a cute name. And I love clam chowder. So for now its name is Chowder.

I dropped Janell off and moved the puppy to the front seat with me. So far it was doing pretty good. He was just chillin. He did throw up like 4 times though. But yeah we drove home listening to some 70s music. My phone took me the curvy way to the interstate making me take the Biehle exit for some reason, but whatever.

We got home and Max and Opal started growing at it when we got it out of the car. Also it was dark by now and after 8:00. Janell and I put the dog in the hallway by the pantry and I got all of the dirty throw up towels out while she cleaned the dog with a wet wipe from the vomit on him. My mom was home shortly and she actually liked the dog. He was still nervous and didn't move too much. We took him down to the sun room then because that's where he'd be sleeping. While we were down there, my dad got home and he was absolutely pissed. He called me upstairs and kept going on about how I disobeyed him, but I think my dad needed me to do something like this because he still thinks he has total control over all of my actions. He only calmed down a little when I agreed to pay for everything for the puppy and schedule the vet appointments and stuff. Guess I'll need to get a job again. I've been looking for a job anyway.

So yeah, today was good. If I didn't get the puppy, we probably never would've gotten one. Well maybe once Max died we would've. But Opal needed a friend, so yeah. I think it'll be a good dog. Today was a 7/10.
