7/30/26

Today was another first day of my three day work week. I actually got up extra early today (around 10 AM) because I drove home from Frank's Hill to get my white leather shoes, my retainers, and a Witch's Brew Alani. I really only went for the shoes, because any other shoes squeak and just don't feel right at work. And I pet Chowder of course. Then I went back to Frank's Hill house, took a shower, got dressed and ready, and went to work at noon.

There were quite a few transporters here today, it was me, Julia, Brendan, and Vanessa, and there was a steady amount of transports throughout the day. Julia was going on all day about me hitting the water fountain, even though that happened like, a month ago. And she was telling other people too. But we talked a lot today. Brendan left at like 2, and I think Vanessa left at 3, and she had me put her phone up. Like girl, you couldn't walk up to house supe and do that yourself? Just kidding, I didn't mind. My mom got me some protein peanut butter balls and a Mountain (American) Dew from the doctor's lounge because she also worked today, so thanks mom. Julia left at 4:30, right when I needed her, because I had a bed. So I had to move that by myself. Then a little after moving that bed, I was back up on surgical, and I saw the strangest thing. This guy in room 512 was in the doorway to his room, on his hands and knees, and I thought he was stretching or something, I don't know. I did a triple take, before going over to him and seeing what was going on. There were no workers or anything around, either, and his gown was completely open in the back. So I tied his gown and started asking him all these questions, like why he was there, if he could use a walker, blah, blah, blah. Apparently, no one had been coming to his room, and he wanted to ask someone when he could get out of this place, and he'd crawled from his bed to this doorway. I brought a walker over and tried to get him to stand, but his gown buttons just all popped off in this very weird, comedic, but unsettling way. Then he was just completely exposed. Maybe I tied the back tie too tight and that caused that to happen, I don't know. But I couldn't get him up, so I finally went and got some people, and like, 10 nurses and techs came and started freaking out. Then we got him up and moved over with them. And I went up there about half and hour later and he was gone. I'm guessing they moved him to neuro. They were really getting onto his nurse because I guess his bed alarm wasn't set even though she swears it was. The rest of the evening and night was steady and still kind of busy. I had 31 done by the end of the shift and 49 flights of stairs climbed and over 17,000 steps. So at least I got a workout.

I got home late because I got off a bit late. I also got a sweet tea because I felt I deserved one, and it was really good. Then I climbed my stairs a bit until I got to 50 flights climbed. Then I watched The Office, made some delicious ramen, watched some YouTube, took a shower, sat out on my porch at 2 AM listening to faint music from inside until an armadillo came around the corner of my house and scared the shit out of me, and brushed my teeth and went to sleep in my recliner.

So today was alright, at least work was fun for the first part. And just getting up and doing something before work made today feel more productive rather than just working all day. 6/10.

7/25/26

Today I had work so I didn't do really anything that morning except put off getting up until 11 o'clock, taking a shower, brushing my teeth, doing my twenty push-ups, and leaving.

Work was alright. Mark and Brayden were there at first. Nothing really crazy happened. I had a guy from neuro who kept talking about Ford Groves for some reason. I had to take him to MRI. I had to bring a guy in a bariatric bed back from ultrasound by myself. That really wasn't too bad though, but the steer mode was making a weird squeaking noise. Towards the end, I didn't have any from about 6:30 to 9:30, so I put in a couple of fake ones, like wheelchair requests, so it didn't look like I was doing nothing. I watched an episode of The Walking Dead because I kind of miss that era when I was into that. I had to bring a bigger guy up to neuro from the ER, and he was really nice. He told me thanks and that I probably wasn't thanked enough.

After work I drove home, talked to my dad some, ate two big bowls of chicken pot pie, tried finishing Aliens, and went to sleep.

So today was work and it was boring. 3/10.

7/23/26

Today was the start of my three day streak of working. So I got up a little after 11 AM, took a shower, got ready, brushed my teeth, all of that. And I was out the door by 11:40. I got a sweet tea from Kidd's and was at work right at noon.

Work was pretty good today. There were a lot of transporters, maybe too many. There was Julia, Parker, Brendan, and me. Parker was actually really annoying today, just because he just does things weird and I feel like he blames me for stuff that isn't really my fault. Like we bumped into a door or something with a bed, but he was the one pulling the bed, I was holding the door open as far as I could. And he was like, "Bronson!" Like boy. And I had to move like four beds with him. He also kept talking about this house that he wants to buy on Terry Street or something. He was a little obsessed with that. I talked to Julia quite a bit too. I had to tell her about me knocking the drinking fountain off the wall a couple of weeks ago, we talked about Love Island, and she told me a message that Lance had for us. That he wants the transporters to start doing more and documenting everything they do. Like moving IV poles and wheelchairs and marking all of that. And Brendan said that Lance said he wants us to start staying down at the CDU. I don't know how well that's gonna work. I don't think anything else really crazy happened. I only had like, 15 or 16 transports done at the end of the day.

Afterwards I went to Frank's Hill, made some beef stroganoff Hamburger Helper, ate the whole box (because I literally ate nothing all day), watched YouTube, and started watching Aliens, but I fell asleep. And that was that.

So today was literally just work, as all my work days are. But at least there were good transporters to talk to. 4.5/10.

7/9/26

Today we were still in London, ON, so we got up and went to Stacked Pancake and Breakfast House which was across from our hotel. I got the Canadian hash, which had bacon, peameal (which tastes like ham), mushrooms, and cheese. And it also came with toast so I got rye toast, and an egg which I got over medium. That was a really good meal. Janell got some kind of avocado toast, my mom got chicken and waffles, but she really didn't like the chicken so she only ate the waffles. She was talking about that chicken for the rest of the trip and said it ruined chicken for her for a bit. I think my dad got something more basic like eggs and sausage or something.

We'd packed up our things before we left, so we were on the road after that. I was driving because I wanted to drive. Before we left London, my mom and I got a Coke from Burger King because we needed some caffeine. I wanted to Dr. Pepper but they didn't have it. So I started driving and I drove us to Sarnia, which was the next place we decided to go. It was just over an hour and it was an alright little drive.

In Sarnia, Ontario, the first place we went was to the beach, because my mom said the beach here is supposed to be one of the best. We actually didn't end up at the beach at first, we ended up at a park. My mom got out to try and find a bathroom, Janell realized she had ranch all over her seat and her butt that she was sitting on, and my dad was really admiring the old log cabins in the park. Then we realized the beach was down a different road, so we drove a couple of minutes further to the beach.

The beach we went to was Canatara Beach on Lake Huron, and it was actually very nice. It was kind of a rocky beach and the water was really cold, but I loved it. Once you dive under the water, it really stops feeling cold. I think I liked it because it was freshwater. But we swam around and relaxed on the sand for about an hour or so, then we got changed and left.

After that I'm pretty sure we went to some thrift stores. My dad, sister, and I went to a Salvation Army while my mom waited in the car. I found a nice jacket in there that I got. Then Janell and I went across the street to another store called Choice Thrift. I found a t-shirt I kind of liked and a Hockey Nova Scotia jersey which I got. So that store was nice, too. We drove to Walmart after that because we were going to get some beach towels for the beach again tomorrow. I got a little Lego set in there, too, because it was actually like a dollar cheaper here if you convert to USD.

After that shopping, we went to Stoke's Grill and Bar to eat. Janell picked this place out and it was actually a really nice environment. Janell got some kind of pink cocktail, I forgot what it was called. She just wanted to order one because she's legal here. I got some kind of Philly cheesesteak as my meal, Janell got fish and chips, and my parents got ribs. It was all pretty good.

Janell wanted ice cream again tonight, so I drove us all to a place she picked out called The Ice Creamery (very original name). I backed into their driveway which Janell said was crazy. I actually didn't get anything here because I was still pretty full, but they all got something. Janell got a milkshake, my mom got a banana ice cream, and my dad probably got something chocolate.

Then we went to our hotel, which was another Holiday Inn, and turned in for the night basically. We saw another rainbow, which was like the fifth one or something. Then I probably played more Minecraft.

So today was good, I really like Sarnia, it's a cute little town. 8/10.

7/5/26

Today I woke up at Janell's house because that's where I slept after the Fourth of July yesterday. I actually didn't wake up until noon, when Janell had already left and came back from her church job. I slept so late because I hardly got any sleep from her stupid cat waking me up at all hours of the night. Anyways, I left and went home pretty soon after that.

When I got home, my mom said we were going to go ahead and leave today for our Niagara Falls trip we were planning. So I started packing some for that. My mom was getting pretty worked up already and I kept playing Minecraft instead of packing and that didn't help. But I got packed pretty quickly, got things I needed out of my car, said bye to the animals, and all that. Janell got home around 3:30 PM probably and she got ready, too. My dad fed the orange cat and checked some stuff at his building, and we were gone a little after 4.

We stopped at Burger King in Cape first, because everyone (besides me, I wanted Culver's) wanted to go there. I got a pretty good double cheeseburger though. I also got a Kidd's sweet tea because we had to fill up with gas. Then we left Cape and didn't stop until we got to a rest stop. In the car I actually played some Minecraft for a bit because I brought my laptop. We kept driving until we got to Evansville, Indiana, where we stayed at a Holiday Inn.

My mom and sister actually went to McDonald's once we were here because Janell wanted coffee, and they brought me a free cheeseburger back. Apparently her coffee wasn't too good, she said it tasted like tea. I went and filled up the ice container because that's always my job, then I played some more Minecraft. My dad was finding some interesting movies on TV. He also had the crazy quote of, "Look up videos of girls farting after colonoscopies."

It took me a while to fall asleep and I watched several YouTube videos, including finishing the rewatch of the Chris Chan documentary. So I slept from about 2:30 to 7 AM.

Today not too much happened, but it was the start of a vacation, so it was still a 5/10 day.

7/2/26

Today I had work and it was not a good day. I got up at around 11, got a shower, got ready, and left at 11:42 to get to work at noon.

Work was bad because the first guy I had to move was 540 pounds and in a wheelchair, and I had to move him two other times after that. Then pretty early on at around 1 PM, I was moving a patient in a bed with a tech from med tele. In the hall leaving med tele, an IRF nurse was walking a lady and had a wheel chair and pole and everything in the hallway, blocking it, so we tried to squeeze past, but we hit an obstacle. We hit the water fountain on the wall and knocked it off. Only the top part that was bracketed to the wall came off, it just came off the clips, but some water was dripping out. But the actual pipe connected to the wall didn't disconnect. But everyone freaked out and was acting like it was a code blue or something, the way they all crowded around the scene. And the stupid IRF nurse started taking charge, trying to pick it up and saying, "Call maintenance ASAP!!!" I only think he's stupid, because afterwards, he was talking to some other nurse and they both were talking about the incidence and giving me these looks, so I know they were talking about me. A little town gossip is what he is. Probably gloating about how he saved the day. But he was the one blocking the whole hallway in the first place. At least I hit the water fountain instead of the patient, I guess. So we did that and brought that patient up to Cardiac Pavilion. At least the patient thought it was funny. And Carolyn was up at Pavilion, so I was just overwhelmed. After that, everyone knew about it and were asking me. Then I had to move another bed, but with Brendon, and I knocked the bottom of a hand sanitizer thing attached to the wall off. So he probably thought I was drunk. And I kind of ran him against the wall with a bed, too, but that was his fault. Brendon is very annoying to move beds with. He is always the one behind pushing, but he has to hardly be pushing at all. Because I'll be up at the front, steering, but having to pull with all my might. Sometimes I feel like he's pulling the opposite way as I'm trying to pull. And we'll be moving soooo slow down the hall. And the time I ran him into the wall was the only time he let me push, but I ran him into the wall because he wasn't steering it. Ugh. So it was just an annoying freaking day. Everyone was annoying. The transporters there today were me, Brendon, Briley, and Maci, one of the ones still training. Brendon left at 6:30 and I was on my own from there. I had some from the ER, and that was basically my night. One of the ones from the ER, I was pushing her out of the room, but forgot to unplug her catheter tubing from the suction on the wall, so I turned around to do that, but the nurses rushed in and were like, "You're still plugged in! I told you she was still on the catheter!" And it's like, yeah, I saw that, that's why I turned around to get it, it's not like it was about to pull out. And I unplugged that stupid tubing and a bit of pee splashed on my face. So that was gross. And that was my work. I played some Minecraft in the break room for the last 30 minutes because luckily I didn't have any more.

Then I left, went to Kidd's and got a sweet tea, went to Frank's Hill and made some toasted ravioli, watched some YouTube, played some Sims 4, rewatched a Chris Chan documentary because that popped up again, and went to bed at about 4 AM on my couch.

So today was like a 4/10. Work honestly wasn't great but at least it felt like it went by kind of quick. And I kind of like my work days because it's the only time I talk to people and feel like a part of society.

7/1/26

Today was another work day, so I got up from the couch I slept on, got ready, took a shower and all of that, then my mom showed up at around 11:30 because she was going to work some on the house. She brought me Chick-fil-A chicken minis, hashbrowns, and a sweet tea, so that was nice. Then I left and got to work at noon.

Work wasn't too bad, it felt like it went by pretty fast. There were a lot of transporters there. Cali was with Julia and Maci, training them. Brendon was there and apparently he was already by himself and done training, and I don't really know if he was ready for that yet. He had to come ask me how to get to PACU. Then Mark was also there and I think he was on his own now. I helped him move a patient in a bed up to Cardiac Pavilion and we saw Carolyn. She called me a sweetie pie and Jimmy was like, "Sweetie pie?" That was kind of funny. So there were six transporters for a while. I think it was Julia's last day training, too. I didn't really talk to her until Cali left, but we talked some. We did a few transports together and talked about Love Island. I was by myself after 4:30 because all the other transporters had left by then. It was kind of busy but not horrible.

After work I went home and didn't do much, just watched YouTube. I've been watching Stampy's Quest series again, I feel like I watch that a lot, but it's funny and kind of comforting. I think it was around 3 AM before I went to sleep.

Today was like a 5/10. It was just a work day, but work wasn't bad.
