Today was the last work day of my three day work week. I woke up to my mom coming into my home, which scared me because I happened to be sleeping naked. But luckily I was able to grab my robe in time and cover myself. Sleeping nude is just so much comfier to me than being confined in clothes. So I went up and took a shower, and when I came out of the shower, I also heard Jennifer, so I made sure to completely cover up before coming down. I guess she was there for a haircut, because that's what my mom was giving her out on the porch when I came down. Interesting. It was worth my mom coming over, though, because she brought me a coffee and made me a ham and cheese omelet to eat before work.
Work was pretty slow today. My first two were from Cardiac Pavilion and that was annoying because there was like, no one at Pavilion. So my first one was supposed to go to ultrasound, but I literally could not find out who that person's nurse was and there was no one around to ask. So I just postponed it. Then I didn't get a second request until 2:30 or something. And it was from Pavilion to CT scan, and that one request took almost an hour. It was because I had to wait for the guy's nurse to get done charting, then once we got down to CT, the Stephanie and Denise down there thought he should be getting a full tib-fib scan and not just ankle because the guy's whole left leg was swollen and hot. So that was probably a good call, but it took forever for them to contact the hospitalist. Then there were quite a few more from ER, and then I had a crazy one. It was a lady from 483 on neuro who was supposed to go down to MRI. Her nurse warned me about her and helped me get her into the wheelchair. She also gave her some Ativan through her IV right before we left, and she apparently had a Xanax earlier, too. But this lady was terrified of going into the MRI machine. So I tried to comfort her all the way down there and said things like, "Just close your eyes and pretend you're somewhere else. Then she tells Andrew the MRI guy that she can't do it and she swears her nurse didn't give her the medicine she was supposed to get, so I had to tell Andrew that she did in fact get it. But she wouldn't go, so I had to take her back to her room and she was crying the whole way. Then they tell her they'll have to do the MRI under anesthesia and she'll have to stay there another week before they can do that. Then she decides she wants to go back, so I take her all the way back down to MRI and we have to convince her some more, and finally she does it. Then I left and did a really annoying discharge from CPC, where this guy took forever in the bathroom, then had to leave and his wife took forever putting his clothes on. After literally 20 minutes waiting on them, I got him into the wheelchair and took him down to the lobby. Then his wife took forever to pull the car around, and this is what actually took forever: standing outside next to his car waiting to stand up. I don't even think he was catching his breath, he was just preparing himself for some reason to stand up, for like, 10 minutes. And I was just holding the wheelchair this whole time, and he was just making little small talk like, "Ahh, it feels nice out here." But it was like, 90 degrees, it was hot. So that whole thing had to of been the longest discharge I've done. Then I had to get the lady from MRI again and somehow she was even worse coming back from MRI. Like, she was mad at me. She told me not to touch her when I was trying to help her up and she told me not to talk to her. Like, okay. But then she was still asking me questions out in the hallway. For the last several hours, it was luckily a lot slower and I got some overdue Workday learning things done and practiced some CPR on some manikins. I sat behind the CDU nurse station and made some doodles, too. So that was that.
Then I drove home because my mom said she'd gotten Imo's Pizza earlier. My dad wanted to talk, but it kind of feels like a chore talking to him when I get home from work, because he always wants to know if I saw anyone he knew and stuff like that. Which I'm not even supposed to tell him. So I went downstairs kind of early because I was just tired, and I think that upset him. He's like, "That was a really good talk," in a sarcastic annoyed voice. Then I ate some pizza, played some piano, and then Olivia FaceTimed me, but I'm pretty sure she was drunk. We just reminised a bit and talked about the old days for a bit. But it wasn't really that fun of a call, I kind of wanted to hang up. I also went up to make some cheese curds in the air fryer and my dad heard me, but he didn't seem too mad. So it was like, 3:30 AM by the time I went to bed.
So today was not a good work day. Everything just took so long and was so annoying. Honestly 1/10 day.
