Today was the first day of our road trip that we were going on out west. I was gonna just stay up all night because my mom wanted us to leave at 6:30 AM, but I ended up falling asleep at 4:30 or something, so I was harder to get up because I got that little bit of sleep. I also didn't really pack at all, so I did all of my packing this morning after getting up a little before 6 AM or whenever. So we got all ready and everything, said bye to the dogs, and it ended up being around 7 before we left.
We started driving and my dad accidentally sent my mom's mom "Best Mom Ever" on a Mother's Day gif, so that was kind of funny. The first place we stopped at was McDonald's in Perryville for breakfast and I got two Sausage McMuffins. My mom's car also had an update and you couldn't start the car while it was updating, so we were just waiting outside that McDonald's and gas station for a good fifteen minutes or so while it did that.
After that we were on the road for a while until we stopped at a rest area and then stopped for lunch a little while later. This was a bit before we went through Kansas City, and we stopped at a Burger King, which would not have been my first choice. So I only got a large fry because I wasn't really feeling anything else. Janell got her little veggie burger since she's still pescatarian. We stopped at Cenex in St. Joseph a little after eating to fill up with gas and then kept driving for another four hours. I mainly just slept and Janell and I started a movie called The Reflecting Skin.
We drove up the Iowa and Nebraska border and didn't really stop until a gas station in South Dakota. Then we kept going until we got to Sioux Falls, which was where we were staying for the night.
We went to Red Lobster to eat because my mom had a 10 dollar off coupon, but it wasn't really a great experience. I think we were there more than half an hour before we got biscuits and an hour and a half before our food came out. And our server kept going on smoke breaks and bringing that smell in. And she didn't apply our coupon before checking us out, so we didn't even get the 10 dollars off and she didn't refund it or anything even though we'd already redeemed it. So that was useless. Anyways, I got the shrimp trio and it wasn't too bad, but not really worth the price.
Afterwards, we went to our hotel, which was a Holiday Inn in Sioux Falls. I don't think we did much here, just brought all our stuff in, showered, and got ready for bed.
So today was mainly just driving as far as we could, but it really wasn't that bad of a day. I would say it was a good start to our vacation. 6.5/10.
