10/23/25

Today was a little bit stressful and scary for me. I had a pharmacology exam today, so I got up at around 9 AM and started studying for that around 10. My mom was home this morning for some reason, I don't really know why. But she made pancakes with chocolate chips in them, so those were good. Then I tried studying some for a couple hours, but didn't get too much done. I was just studying the Quizlets because apparently those are all that are on the exam. Eventually I decided to go to the library to try and be more focused. My mom made this sub sandwich for me with roast beef, lettuce, pickles, onions, buffalo sauce, and cheese on it, so I ate that on the way there and it was delicious.

I got to the library a little after 1 PM I think, so I still had an hour and a half or so to study. So I studied a bit at the library, sitting in one of the comfy chairs on the third floor. And I studied there until 2:50 and then I went to class.

We had to use the school-issued laptops to take the exam because it uses Lockdown Browser and records your face and all that. So we got that, and whiteboards, calculators, and markers, and we started. The exam code was "March" fun fact. So I started and I was suddenly not confident at all. I only recognized a few questions from the Quizlets. I looked around and no one else really seemed worried. Luckily the dosage calculation ones were easy and I remembered to write the units this time. I finished in like, 40 minutes or so, and left. She had said we weren't lecturing afterward, so that was good.

So I got to my car and checked my score, and I got a 56 percent. I literally started crying, because I thought my 70 on the last exam was awful. So I was full-on making plans to drop out of college and join the military. It also showed the average and it said the average was around 75, so I definitely did the worst. I started driving and was planning on just going to the gym to let out my anger. Then people started texting in the nursing group chat, and they were saying how a lot of what was on the exam was stuff we haven't learned. There were malaria and antifungal meds on there and we had no way to learn those because she posted the information for those today. Then they said she wanted to meet with us today again, but I was not going back, I already left. But apparently she just wanted to tell us she's sorry that that stuff was on the exam and she was giving everyone 9 points back. I checked my score and I was at 66 percent now. Okay, not great, but a little better.

I still went to the gym and was mad. I just did my normal workout on the machines, but after I was there for 45 minutes or so, I checked the score again, and I was at an 80. So I was very happy now, it said the average was an 82, so I'm happy being near that. I guess she hadn't graded my dosage calculations yet. So I was finally happy. While in the gym I was looking up "should I drop out of college" so I was going through it. I got done and left.

I got the flavor of the day from Culver's after that, and it was alright. It was cashews and caramel. They barely put any of the toppings, though. It was basically just vanilla ice cream. But whatever, it was free.

I still had an hour or so before work, so I just drove around, and I found some pretty cool places. I went out past Walmart and took a county road behind Notre Dame. There were some huge houses back there, a golf course, a sidewalk (that amazed me), and I ended up on highway 74. Then I ended up downtown and I sat in my car for a bit by the flood wall.

I went and got a free snack wrap from McDonald's. I'd never had that, it wasn't great. Not awful, though. Cheyenne handed it to me and I think we both recognized each other.

I went to work and I had stuff as soon as I got there again. The first was someone from neuro, and there were a ton of people up on neuro. Apparently Southeast College of Nursing students were there for clinical today, and Mariel was also there. So I talked to her for a bit, she was just with the patient I had to take. This other student helped me get the patient up and into a wheelchair. Then Mariel came with me to CT scan with the patient, I guess just to talk and see what I do. So that was kind of cool. She had to leave while we were down there, though, so I walked her back up to the floor 3 because she was lost. I also took an elevator with some of the students and teachers and they were talking to me some, that was interesting. They were having a conference thing on floor 2. There were several more requests tonight. I had one from dialysis, which was new for me, one to ultrasound, some from ER to the floor, I was all over. But I also had probably an hour of free time. So it was another good day at work.

After work I went home, and my mom was still up because she wanted to show me the progress she'd made on my med pass cards, which was actually a lot. She wanted me to rewrite all of the meds on the template that she'd printed out, but I didn't end up doing that. Sorry mom, but that's too much work. But I do really appreciate her finalizing all of those for me. I finally finished the Detroit Become Human videos on Patreon, and I went to bed at around 2 AM.

So my day was almost awful if I really got a 56 percent, but an 80 is something that I'm proud of. So today may actually be around a 5/10.
