Today is the first day of the new year, 2025. Honestly, it was a pretty insignificant day. Yesterday, New Year’s Eve, was actually pretty nice. But today not much happened.
I’ll say a little about what happened yesterday since I didn’t make a post. We had people over for my grandma’s 80th birthday, so my grandparents, June, George, Kyle, Keira, Jennifer, David, Mariel, Zack, Pierce, his girl Ava, and Janell’s friend Myra were at our house. I don’t even know when my grandma’s birthday is, I don’t think it’s on the 31st, but that’s when we celebrated it. Also, the Winter Classic was today, and luckily George told me, because I thought it was always on New Year’s Day, not the eve. So I watched the last two periods of that. Then we ate, I had some lil smokies wrapped in bacon, garlic parmesan chicken, green bean casserole, and fruit salad. Eating was kinda awkward, for me at least, because I was sitting at the downstairs table with the couples, Kyle and Pierce and their girls and Mariel and Zack. Plus me. But it wasn’t really that bad. There wasn’t any more room so Janell and Myra had to eat on the couch. After that they kinda just talked, but I was bored and done eating so I went upstairs and started Metro Last Light. I didn’t really want to, I wanted to stay and be social, but I really wasn’t feeling it. So I played a couple of levels of that, then I went back downstairs. Janell and Myra were playing Minecraft on the two iPads and the cousins were trying to start a game of Low Down, which was this card game that Janell, my mom, and I tried playing earlier today in case we wanted to play it tonight. So I joined them in that game and tried to explain the rules, even though I had just learned and it was kinda a confusing game. We ended up playing a lot of rounds of this game and it actually got pretty fun once everyone knew what they were doing. After like the third or fourth round of this, I ended up winning, so I left the game after that because I kinda wanted to play Minecraft. So I joined Janell and Myra’s world from my laptop and built a house, got a pet armadillo, and found some diamonds. Fun stuff. Then they were getting tired of dying so we stopped playing. By this time, the only people left in the basement were Janell, Myra, Kyle, and Keira. So we just talked some until midnight, and then my dad got our guns for us all to shoot. They all shot shotguns and I shot my 9mm that I got for Christmas. It was a pretty good New Year’s Eve, not going to lie.
Moving on to today, I got up at noon, Janell left basically as soon as I got up to go to St. Louis with Myra. At least she had a more eventful first day of the year than me. I ate some breakfast that my mom had made, some breakfast sausage, biscuits and apple butter, and coffee. Then I tried making a little 2024 recap to put on TikTok and I had to do all this stuff because I wanted to use Just Another New Year’s Eve by Barry Manilow, but that full song wasn’t on TikTok so I had to record the song then extract the audio on CapCut, but then none of that mattered because TikTok muted my video right after I posted it because somehow it knew what I did. So that failed. But I still have the video in my camera roll. Then I took down the outside Christmas decorations, like the lights on the house and the little stick lights in the ground. I had to take the pool robot out its box so that I could put those decorations in a box, and my mom wasn’t too happy about that, she loves that robot. Then I played more Last Light and did the theater mission today and at the end of that mission a guy played a really nice tune on the piano, so then I looked it up and tried learning it. It’s literally just the piano version of the Last Light song, but it’s so catchy and fun to play. Then we ate Lambert’s that my mom brought from June’s. We had hog jowl, black eye peas, potatoes, and rolls. Apparently those are New Year’s foods, I didn’t know that until today. It would’ve been more memorable if we actually ate at the Lambert’s restaurant, but whatever. I was going to study for the HESI, but I didn’t really end up doing that. I REALLY need to, though. Then my mom ended up giving me 100 dollars. Well, she rolled it into my account. She said that was for helping around the house and putting Christmas stuff away, but I think it was also because Janell got to go to St. Louis and I didn’t. But I’m fine with that. Then I watched The Walking Dead and couldn’t fall asleep so I also started writing. I’m gonna try and ACTUALLY write every day. I always say it, but I will this time. It’s 5:51 AM. Do I even try going to sleep? Well, Happy New Year, I hope 2025 is a good year.
