10/20/22

Today was an interesting day because it's not a normal day of school. Today is Thursday and it's the last day of Crusader Week so the freshmen and sophomores are doing service projects, the juniors are doing job shadowing, and the seniors have to go to school to do senior things apparently.

So I got up and drove to school. I got there before 8, but most people were still waiting in their cars until they had to go in. We sat in the commons the whole time. I sat in between Caroline and Cory. There was some lady talking about SEMO and financial aid for the first part. Then I think some other people started talking. I had a donut and a Subway sandwich because they had those there. The sandwich had mayo and tomatoes on it with no cheese, so it wasn't very good. Caroline and I actually talked a lot which we don't do very much anymore. Then, Mr. Ruark went through his life rules. I remember the first 3 were: wear sunscreen, don’t smoke, and say “I love you” as much as you can. Those should be pretty easy to follow. That was really about it for the school day. We were released at around 10:30.

Eli invited me to go to Pizza Inn with him, Zach, Bryce, and Carter afterwards, so I did. It tasted a lot better than normal for some reason and I stuffed myself full. We were mainly talking about going to Costa Rica while we ate, because Bryce has a vacation home there and apparently we’re going to take our senior trip down there.

After we got done eating I left and got home at around 11:30. I should have started packing my bag as soon as I got home today because we were leaving for Branson, but I didn’t. I started packing after my sister got home from job shadowing at the vet. Eventually everyone was ready and we loaded into my mom's car.

The ride up to Branson was as fun as usual, although I like it better when it gets dark while we're driving, but it was light the whole way. Janell made us stop at Chick-fil-a right after we left, but I was still full from Pizza Inn so I didn't get anything. I fell asleep for at least an hour right after we left. We stopped at LeerJak like we always do and I got a Whatchamacallit and a Monster that Janell said was good but wasn't that good. I shiny hunted a bit on my DS but didn't get anything. I mainly just listened to jazz music and looked out my window.

We finally got to Branson and the first place we went was a ticket store because my mom needed to buy or print tickets or something. My mom and dad went in but Janell and I stayed in the car. I got bored so I walked over to this Bigfoot mini golf course and sat at a picnic table. Then Janell and I walked down the sidewalk a bit and found an abandoned craft mall, but Janell made us turn around and go back.

I got in the front seat and drove us to our hotel when my parents came back out. Branson is probably my favorite place to drive around for some reason. The hotel we were staying at was the same one we stayed at last spring when we were here. It's an alright hotel. We unloaded everything and sat in the room for a bit. My mom called the front desk to ask for a cot for Janell.

We then decided to go get supper and went to a newer place called Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. I ordered steak, red beans and rice, and fries. I didn't even really realize it, but it took over an hour for our food to come out, so our server got his manager and she gave us a discount on all of our food. So that was nice. I actually really liked that restaurant, even though my steak looked way smaller than an 8 oz. Then we drove down the strip a bit and went back to the hotel.

Overall, today was a great day. Good old 9/10.
